Paving the Way with NSNA
Let us extend our heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to all the 2024-2025 Project InTouch( PIT) recruiters. With their unwavering efforts, we witnessed the enrollment of an impressive 394 new members, thanks to the dedication of 52 PIT recruiters. A resounding congratulations to Samantha Sim and Lindsey Tran, San Diego State University, San Diego, CA, who emerged as the PIT Grand Prize winners.
As we bid farewell to the academic year, it is time to set our sights on the upcoming recruitment campaign. While fall may seem distant, the summer presents an opportune moment to prepare and alleviate the workload before the new school year commences. Ideally, our campaigns should be in full swing by August.
Here are some ideas to kickstart your recruitment campaign:
n Extend a warm invitation to prospective members and current nursing students who have yet to join our ranks. Remember to infuse your first meeting with excitement by incorporating engaging programming alongside the formal business proceedings. Embrace inclusivity and consideration as you introduce newcomers to the group and the organization. Encourage participants to share their ideas, suggestions, and questions, fostering an open and welcoming environment.
n Organize a virtual or in-person presentation in collaboration with your local SNA. Display membership brochures, pamphlets, discounted coupons, and links to Imprint, our online magazine – a valuable membership benefit. Ensure these resources remain readily available throughout the year to cater to any newfound interest.
n Utilize the " Catch the Wave " recruitment video during your meetings or orientation sessions. The latter showcases inspiring stories of accomplished nurses, sharing their career journeys. The video can be found https:// www. nsna. org / membership-recruitment-resources. html, along with additional recruitment resources.
n Leverage the NSNA membership brochure, a PowerPoint presentation, poster, or concise brochure to showcase members in action. Guide attendees through the benefits of membership, including discounts, Imprint magazine, and networking opportunities. Emphasize how fellow chapter members are fellow nursing students who understand the pressures of nursing school and can provide invaluable support throughout the academic year and beyond. Share your personal experiences with NSNA, especially if you ' ve had the chance to attend one of our conventions!
n Engage faculty members, your dean, and advisor, who serve as liaisons and catalysts for NSNA involvement, drawing from their active participation in professional nursing organizations and their role as mentors.
n Foster early exposure by collaborating with faculty members and exploring opportunities to speak with incoming nursing students during their orientation sessions. Additionally, work with instructors of prerequisite courses to obtain approval for addressing prospective students or leaving informational flyers for them to peruse.
Reminders:
n Become a Project InTouch Recruiter and win valuable prizes by recruiting new members into the association. Current PIT recruiters must obtain a new number for the 2025-2026 academic year.
