Greetings NSNA !

NOMINATING AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE

My name is Brittany Peacock-Wilson , and I am the 2023-2024 Nominations and Elections Committee Northern Area Representative . I hope everyone ’ s 2024 is off to an amazing start thus far , and I cannot wait to see everyone is attendance at the Annual Convention !
The 72nd Annual Convention is approaching soon — April 3-7 , 2024 — in magical Lake Buena Vista , Florida at Disney ’ s Coronado Springs Resort . This year ’ s theme is “ Elevate : Dreams Make the Impossible Possible ,” offering a chance to explore different nursing specialties and attend educational workshops tailored for nursing students . You can learn more about events by visiting www . nsnaconvention . org , where you ’ ll find information about key speakers , the Exhibit Hall , vendors , the live NCLEX Mini Review , information about career development opportunities , and additional features . The Annual Convention is a valuable platform to network with students from all over the country , acquire tools to lead state and local chapters , improve your test-taking abilities , enhance clinical judgment , and much more ! It is highly advised to effectively organize your time to make sure you fully experience and enjoy the event .
An exhilarating highlight , as always , will certainly be the elections for the new NSNA 2024-2025 officers ! Running for a national position can be a great platform to discover your capabilities and strengthen your passion for nursing . The idea can seem daunting , but it can be a great opportunity to grow and establish a professional identity . I believe I speak for the 2023-2024 Board , as well as myself , that being part of
NSNA has been an amazing experience and an asset to our nursing journey !
Although the January 17th pre-slate deadline has passed , there is still opportunity to run from the floor for those that are interested ! NEC is available to assist candidates submitting applications for an NSNA elected position .
A practical step-by-step guide if you plan on “ Running from the Floor ” PRIOR to the Annual Convention :
n Seek information on how to run for a national office . n Complete the official NSNA Application for National Office . n Submit all mandatory documentation . n Select a campaign manager . n Create a catchy campaign slogan . n Create a compelling poster .
n Read and understand the NSNA ’ s Campaign Regulations in detail .
Do remember that campaigning is off limits until you have been officially placed on the candidate slate during the House of Delegates at the Annual Convention . NEC will then designate candidates a table at the Campaign Headquarters . Once you ’ re on the slate , make sure to review the campaign stipulations and familiarize yourself with potential questions that could be raised during the “ Meet the Candidates ” sessions .
If you have any inquiries or concerns related to running for office or campaigning , do not hesitate to reach out to the Nominating and Elections Committee . We are enthusiastic about assisting you and eagerly look forward to seeing you at the NSNA ’ s 72nd Annual Convention in April !
