NSNA Holds Summer Leadership U Summit in New York City Over 100 students and faculty attended the NSNA Leadership University Summit on July 28 , 2023 . The Summit was held at Mt . Sinai Medical Center in New York City . Participants traveled from several states as well as from Guam , to attend the Summit . The objectives of the Summit were to help NSNA members and faculty understand NSNA ’ s mission and programs ; create stronger more active school and state chapters ; problem solve , network and share ideas ; formation of professional identity in nursing ; and to understand how to become a member of the NSNA Leadership U Honor Society .
Greetings were presented by Mt . Sinai nurse leaders Dr . Beth Oliver , Chief Nurse Executive , Senior Vice President , Cardiac Services Mount Sinai Health System , and Dr . Fran Cartwright , Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President .
Lauren Lodico , NSNA President , shared her views on Starting Your Leadership Journey . Khamaria Harris , NEC Chair , NSNA Nominating and Elections Committee was on hand to present Inspiring Future Leadership for Your Association through the Nominating and Elections Process . NSNA Director and Membership Committee Chair , Cody Mitchell , addressed NSNA Membership : Paving the Way with NSNA . Dr . Carol Weingarten , Faculty Advisor at the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing , Villanova University presented , School Chapter Advisor Role — Inspiring and Mentoring Future Leaders . Several additional topics were presented by NSNA staff .
One of the highlights of the Summit was a panel presentation with Mount Sinai Nurse Leaders from the Emergency Department , Critical Care , and other specialty areas . The day ended with optional tours of several Mt . Sinai Medical Center units .
