APPLY FOR THE BTN MONTHLY AWARD Started in 2017 , the Breakthrough to Nursing ( BTN ) Project monthly award encourages students to participate in service projects in their school and in the community . Monthly awards , from September 2022 to March 2023 , in the amount of $ 100 each will be made to the winning school chapter . These awards are in addition to the traditional BTN Awards presented at the NSNA Annual Convention . The BTN Committee goal is to increase BTN involvement as well as to increase social media presence to promote BTN and encourage underrepresented students to enter the nursing profession .
From September 2022 to March 2023 , NSNA members and chapters may submit a photo , essay , service , or social media project addressing the following themes :
January : “ The Long Winter ” ( How to recognize and stop nurse burnout early preventing burnout after the long holiday season ) Deadline : February 15 , 2023
February : Hidden Figures ( Discussing the historical impact of black nursing in relation to today ) Deadline : March 15 , 2023

For the 21st Consecutive Year , Nurses Rank as Most Honest , Ethical Profession On January 10 , 2023 , Gallup News announced that for the 21st consecutive year , Americans ranked nurses as having the highest level of honesty and ethical standards among a diverse list of professions . Nurses kept their place atop the poll despite the challenges presented by the lingering COVID-19 pandemic , high rates of flu and RSV infections , staffing issues and the pernicious threat of workplace violence . According to the poll , 79 % of Americans rated the honesty and ethical standards of nurses as “ very high ” or “ high .”
“ This recognition belongs to America ’ s 4.4 million incredible nurses ,” said American Nurses Association ( ANA ) President Jennifer Mensik Kennedy , PhD , MBA , RN , NEA-BC , FAAN . “ For more than two decades now , the nation has recognized the vital role you play in keeping our friends , families , and communities safe and healthy , regardless of the setting you work in or the challenges you might face . Your ranking in this poll is an acknowledgement that without your bravery , professionalism , and clinical expertise , our health care system could not function . I look forward to celebrating and sharing your many remarkable achievements over the course of 2023 and beyond .”
Gallup has measured the public ’ s views of the honesty and ethical standards of a variety of professions since 1976 . Nurses have surpassed all other professions every year , but one , since they were added to the Gallup list in 1999 .
