Membership Pathways to Inclusion

Thank you and congratulations to all of the 2022-2023 Project InTouch ( PIT ) recruiters . We had 66 PIT recruiters and enrolled 565 new members ! Congratulations to the PIT Grand Prize winner Annaliece Balensiefen , University of Central Florida , Orlando , FL .
Students connecting with their fellow peers is crucial to the growth of NSNA membership and it ’ s a great way to network . As we close the academic year , now is the time to prepare for the upcoming year ’ s recruitment campaign . The fall may seem far away , but summer is a good time to start preparing and to help lighten your workload at the beginning of the new school year ! Ideally , our campaigns should be in place by August .
Here are some ideas to get your recruitment campaign going :
• Invite prospective members and current nursing students who are not members to your first meeting . Remember to keep it exciting as you plan your programming , in addition to a more formal business meeting . Be inclusive and considerate as you introduce them to the group and the organization . Encourage participants to share ideas and suggestions as well as open the floor for all questions . Being a new member as large as NSNA can be intimidating when you ’ re first starting . Ensure them that this would benefit them greatly and support them in stepping out of their comfort zone . NSNA has a wealth of information , benefits , and resources and it can be easy to get lost among it all , so be prepared to answer questions or direct potential members to our website for more detailed information .
• Organize a presentation with your local SNA , virtually or in-person . Display membership brochures , pamphlets , discounted coupons and links to Imprint , and promote the online magazine as a membership benefit . Also keep these on hand throughout the year for easy access if new interest arises .
• Use the Catch the Wave recruitment video and Nursing : The Career of a Lifetime during your meeting or during orientation . The latter showcases inspiring stories of accomplished nurses as they share their career journeys . You can find the videos at www . nsna . org under the NSNA Store . There are also recruitment resources under the membership tab including important documents and easy to follow videos .
