Greetings from your 2022-2023 Elected Officials

Board of Directors
Conoway
Taylor Conaway President Carr College of Nursing Harding University Searcy , AR president @ nsnainc . org

Fellow nursing students and NSNA members ! Thank you for this opportunity to serve and represent NSNA . I strongly support NSNA ’ s core values of advocacy , leadership and autonomy , professionalism , care , diversity , and quality education . By being members of this organization , you too are subscribing to these values . Nursing school is a challenging time with many responsibilities competing for your attention . You have exams , homework , clinicals , and many of you are also working . Nursing school is a time of learning and it is also a time of growth and personal development . NSNA has given me the opportunity to work on my professionalism and these same opportunities are available to you .

I am a rising senior at the Carr College of Nursing , Harding University in Searcy , Arkansas . I am enrolled in a Masters ’ Entry into professional nursing program , and I am scheduled to graduate in May 2023 . I am the current President of the Arkansas Nursing Students ’ Association , and I am in the process of helping to plan our first inperson convention since 2019 . Working as a CNA during the summer of 2021 in a memory care unit cemented my love for this profession . My current plan after graduation is to work in a pediatric intensive care unit and to see where I go from there . I love how nursing has so many opportunities .
In June I represented NSNA at the American Nurses Association Membership Assembly . The goals for my term revolve around supporting my fellow nursing students to not only survive nursing school but to thrive . To support the physical and mental aspect of students I ’ m encouraging the utilization of the resources available through Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation . They provide tools to support the wellbeing of nurses through mindfulness development and physical challenges . Supporting the educational aspect includes sharing resources to be successful test taking and preparing for the NCLEX . Supporting social life is providing a space for nursing students to support one another and build each other up outside of the often-competitive classroom .
I am here for you , and I want each one of you to thrive in nursing school . Feel free to reach out to me to share any concerns , ideas , or issues you are facing . We are in this together ! I look forward to getting to meet all of you in person at the NSNA MidYear Conference in Virginia Beach , VA , November 10-13 , 2022 , and at the Annual Convention in Nashville , TN ! n

Hello to all the wonderful NSNA members out there ! It is such an honor to represent and serve you as Vice president . I have had such an exciting experience through nursing school , full of growth . I am grateful for the memories I have created at Florida State College in Jacksonville , FL , earning an Associate Degree in Nursing program . My next step is to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree . During these inspirational times , I have the pleasure of serving within the NSNA as the NSNA Ethics and Governance Committee Chair and a member of the Finance and Executive Committees . There are many impactful things each of these committees has accomplished in the past , and I only hope to continue the growth and ambitions of NSNA and the core values that have been established since its inception .
As future nurses , we understand that the seven main Principles of Ethics in Nursing consist of Justice , Beneficence , Nonmaleficence , Autonomy , Fidelity , Veracity , and Accountability ( www . nursingprocess . org , 2022 ). These characteristics and behaviors are paramount and key to our chosen profession . With that being said , I am eager to pursue this year ’ s Ethics and Governance theme of “ See the Need , Be the Voice !” This theme embodies many of the principles we must possess and lead with . With this , the populations in need are not overlooked or forgotten but spoken for and comforted . Over many years the NSNA has collectively taken on and represented many resolutions that reflect our values and ethics . The Ethics and Governance Committee is excited to apply this year ’ s theme using past NSNA Resolutions and help to write interpretative statements made by delegates at the 2022 Annual Convention .
I hope to impact and be impacted by fellow members , mentors , and alike during this year ’ s duties and activities . I look forward to the MidYear Conference in Virginia Beach , VA , and the next Annual Convention in Nashville ! After our Board of Directors Orientation in New York , I am more than confident that those elected to represent the membership are capable of big and brilliant things . The experience and energy that comes from bringing a group of like-minded individuals together for the common good are unrivaled . This can be witnessed and felt at all gatherings through the NSNA .
Please feel free to reach out to me anytime ; whether you are in leadership , a member , or a prospective member , I am here ! You can reach me at vicepresident @ nsnainc . org . I wish you lots of learning , rest , and peace of mind during this next year of education and growth . n
