BAND-AID ® BRAND Champions for Health Equity Scholarships For more than 100 years , BAND-AID ® Brand has developed innovative wound care solutions and supported those who are putting care into the world .
Through the BAND-AID ® Brand Champions for Health Equity Scholarship , the brand is strengthening its commitment to elevating Black healthcare professionals with the goal of increasing representation and contributing to more equity in the nursing profession .
Established in 2021 , the scholarship is a multi-year commitment of $ 150,000 over three academic years .
This year , 18 Black nurses — who have not only achieved academic excellence , but also demonstrated that they ’ re paving the way within the field — have been awarded with the BAND- AID ® Brand Champions for Health Equity Scholarship .
2020 showed us , more than ever before , that having well-trained and well-supported nurses is key to the health of our society . However , in a country with significant racial health inequities — the need for well-equipped nurses is especially heightened in communities of color .
One way that Johnson & Johnson is working to eliminate health inequities for people of color is by investing in creating a diverse healthcare professional pipeline , including increasing BIPOC representation among nurses .
As part of Johnson & Johnson ’ s Our Race to Health Equity initiative , over $ 500,000 in scholarships were funded through the Foundation of the National Student Nurses Association . We were proud to provide scholarships to 67 Black , Indigenous and People of Color ( BIPOC ) students this year . These students will play a key role in creating a world where health equity is a pillar of our society and our healthcare system . The scholarships are one part of a multi-pronged strategy to ensure access to high-quality and culturally competent health care for all .
