Florida State College at Jacksonville Student Nurses ’ Association Florida State College at Jacksonville Student Nurses ’ Association ( FSCJ SNA ) students raised $ 2385.00 for the kids at Wolfson Children ’ s Hospital in Jacksonville , Florida , in partnership with Toys for Tots . In addition , they were able to give money to a family so that they could buy medical supplies for a child in need . The nursing students also filled many carts with toys for distribution to the less fortunate . Erin Kelly , the BSN Liaison for the FSCJ SNA , revealed that “ many more fundraising events are planned for the upcoming months ” such as Pennies PRN , cooking home cooked meals for visitors staying at the Ronald McDonald house , volunteering at
JASMYN — an initiative to support LGBTQIA + youth , and hosting canned food drives for local shelters . By organizing yearly fundraising events that not only help those in need , but are also able to bring some stability to local communities , the FSCJ SNA aspires to empower more nursing students to become actively involved in local and state level activities through outreach , education , and training .
University of North Carolina Association of Nursing Students The University of North Carolina Association of Nursing Students ( UNC ANS ) hosted an open interest meeting in August for anyone wanting to join . In addition to welcoming prospective and current nursing students , the 2022 – 2023 Executive Board was also introduced . During the interest meeting , the nursing students began planning food drives , fundraisers , and vendor tables to support the local communities in need . The UNC ANS works diligently to encourage its nursing students to aid those in need , to give to those less fortunate and to always act compassionately .
The Mentor and Mentee Program is one of the long-running initiatives of the UNC ANS that aids first-year nursing students in adjusting to nursing school . Through this program , nursing students are paired to share knowledge and experience . As an upper-class student , the now senior nursing student switches roles with a new nursing student , going from being the mentee to the mentor . This is just one example of how UNC ANS fosters compassion , inspiration , and leadership from the ground up .
