At the same time , the health sector is also a significant contributor to climate change , making up 8.5 % of total U . S . greenhouse gas emissions .
If we act now , we can help prevent the worst effects of climate change and simultaneously improve health outcomes . The Nurses Climate Challenge is a national campaign to mobilize nurses to educate 50,000 health students and professionals on the impacts of climate change on human health .
Together with other Nurse Climate Champions from across the country , NSNA members have the power to launch a movement of nursing students committed to taking action to protect the health of patients and communities from the worst impacts of climate change .
The Nurses Climate Challenge is working with NSNA to help reach its goal of educating 50,000 healthcare students and professionals .
