Conclusion Nursing educators can take lead in fighting inequality by incorporating transgender specific interventions and needs within their existing class curriculums . Professors and writers need not grossly alter their teaching plans for the sake of diversity . Instead , they can insert population considerations where appropriate — for example in classes on cultural education , community health aggregates , and care needs specific to different genders . Successful examples of integrating transgender healthcare teaching into baccalaureate curriculum exist ( McDowell & Bower , 2016 ). By creating a nursing culture of information and acceptance , nursing educators and other leaders can help future and current nurses to meet the needs of their transgender patients . We owe it to both ourselves and our patients to act against this inequality intentionally and purposefully . The existence of injustice anywhere indicates a failure everywhere . •
