2020-2021 NSNA President Brandi Borden invites you to attend the NSNA Virtual 69th Annual Convention

Keynote Speaker Susan B . Hassmiller , PhD , RN , FAAN , is currently serving as the Senior Scholar-In- Residence and Senior Adviser to the President on Nursing at the National Academy of Medicine from January 2019 through December 2020 . In this role , she is serving as a key member of the leadership team for the Future of Nursing 2030 report . She is also the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Senior Adviser for Nursing , and in partnership with AARP , Hassmiller also directs the Foundation ’ s Future of Nursing : Campaign for Action . This 50-state and District of Columbia effort strives to implement the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine ’ s report on the Future of Nursing : Leading Change , Advancing Health and will additionally seek to build a Culture of Health . Hassmiller served as the report ’ s study director .
Hassmiller ’ s work has included service in public health settings at the local , state and national levels , including HRSA . She taught community health nursing at the University of Nebraska and George Mason University in Virginia .
​Hassmiller is an elected member of the National Institute of Medicine , now the National Academy of Medicine , a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and sits on other advisory committees and boards , including the Hackensack Meridian Health System , UnitedHealth , Carrier Clinic and the American Red Cross . She is the recipient of many awards and three honorary doctorates , but most notably the Florence Nightingale Medal , the highest international honor given to a nurse by the International Committee of the Red Cross . n
Endnote Speaker Teresa “ Tese ” Maggard Stephens , PhD , RN , CNE , has more than 34 years of nursing experience in both clinical and academic settings . She is the author of Stephens ’ Model of Resilience and the founder of RN P . R . E . P . ( Personal Resilience Enhancement Plan ). Her work is focused on the concept of RESILIENCE , specifically as a tool to promote well-being and professional fulfillment in nurses , nursing students , and other clinicians . Much of this work is built upon the narratives of Holocaust survivors . ​ Dr . Stephens is recognized as a leader in nursing education and research , specifically in the areas of workplace culture , faculty development , student success and engagement , and best practices in online learning . She is a Certified Nurse Educator ( CNE ) and serves as a research consultant , advisor , and member of several professional organizations , task forces , and work groups . She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University , her Master of Science in Nursing from King College , a post-graduate certificate in nursing education from the University of Tennessee , and her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Tennessee . Dr . Stephens is a Professional Development Specialist for the Medical University of South Carolina and a Nursing Education Consultant for ATI . She is the author of several publications and book chapters and a frequent presenter at regional , national , and international conferences and workshops . She and her husband , Scott , live in Blountville , TN and the Isle of Palms , SC . They are obsessed with their granddaughter , Emmie , and her new baby brother , Owen . n
