Our Race to Health Equity Diversity Nursing Scholarships FNSNA is excited to partner with Johnson & Johnson in support of “ Our Race to Health Equity Diversity Nursing Scholarships .” A $ 500,000 grant was awarded to the FNSNA to support nursing students from racially / ethnically diverse backgrounds . Funding may be used for tuition , fees , and books . Awards up to $ 7,500 per scholarship , will be made in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 scholarship cycles .
FNSNA Appoints New Trustee In December , the members of the FNSNA appointed Dr . Shirley Quarles , EdD , RN , FAAN to the position of Trustee on the Board of Trustees . For over 45 years , Dr . Quarles has served our country and made extraordinary impacts on the nursing profession through prominent leadership positions in the military , public , and private sectors .
Today Dr . Quarles is retired , but continues to give back to the nursing profession through various service commitments . “ It is a privilege to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Foundation of the NSNA . It affords me the opportunity to work with a group of professionals to promote the educational development of nursing students to become successful licensed registered nurses at all levels ,” says Dr . Quarles of her recent appointment . Dr . Carol Weingarten reflected on this new appointment with excitement . “ Dr . Shirley Quarles brings to the Board outstanding experience as a leader in nursing education and in the United States Army Nurse Corps Reserve . She is an advocate for nursing students and faculty , as well as active-duty military members , veterans , and their families . The FNSNA Board is delighted to welcome her as a Trustee .”
