As nursing students , we are the future
of healthcare . Stemming from all different cultures and walks of life , but converging on a profession focused on healing others through care and medicine . COVID-19 has pushed healthcare workers into the spotlight and recognized us as heroes , as we save countless lives through the many skills we have obtained throughout our nursing school and professional careers . I implore you to continue on this journey and help others as you advance in your career .
I encourage you to think back to why you decided to become a nurse . Did you always know ? Is nursing your second career ? Was it one moment or a collection of events ? Did one person help you or a group of people ? There are so many events in life that shape who we are and what we will become . NSNA is here to help you advance through nursing school and graduate as a well-rounded nurse , who properly represents the future of nursing . This representation being a nurse who goes above and beyond for their patients , ensuring equity in care and access to care . NSNA gives students immense opportunities and connections at the national level . There are faculty who are dedicated to supporting and mentoring students . There are businesses and organizations that partner with NSNA to help students . Every day we are faced with new opportunities and I hope that you will challenge yourself to make a difference .
Each and every person who has been a part of NSNA has grown the community and support for the students of today and the students of tomorrow . Each person has dedicated himself or herself to make the world a better place — whether across the globe or in their backyard . Florence Nightingale was only one person who made an incredible difference in the nursing profession and in the world . I encourage you to find your passion and be a person who changes lives for the better .
