SNA at Trinity Valley Community college The Student Nursing Association at Trinity Valley Community College has been inspiring their fellow peers to connect , grow , and encourage one another by providing exciting opportunities for their students to take part in . This year , the Trinity Community College SNA created an “ Adopt-a-Student ” program in order to provide comfort and guidance to first-year nursing students . This program is similar to the Big Brother / Big Sister Program ; it matches upperclassmen nursing students to mentor one to three of the incoming freshmen . Each upperclassman nursing student is matched with an incoming freshman by their marital status , hobbies , and location to provide optimal success in their mentorship . This program has become a raging success in Trinity Valley Community College and many nursing students are raving about it . One semester , three nursing students stated , “ Being involved in this program has helped me see the serious need for peerto-peer guidance and has developed a desire in me to precept in the future .” It is clear that this program will create long lasting effects on the nurses who partake in it .
The students in the Trinity Valley Community College SNA have also taken the time to plan events that raise money for scholarships , award ceremonies , and spring events such as the “ Fall Fun Run : Color Edition .” When student signed up for this event , they were instructed to show up in extremely bright and colorful outfits with their donation in hand . Once they provided a donation , they were doused by their instructors with bright powders . Finally , students were able to pie an instructor of their choice in the face during the event . This was a great way for the SNA chapter to raise morale among their student and faculty while also raising money for their school in a unique and fun way .
University of Wyoming Student Nurses Association Despite the overwhelming challenges that nursing students have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic , the Student Nursing Association at the University of Wyoming has continued to provide an abundance of activities for their students . This SNA participated in volunteer events such as The Big Event , SafeRide SideKick Program , Clothing Cottage Clothes Drive , and Spring Wind Assisted Living Bingo and Nail Painting . They have made volunteering a priority for their nursing students and they continue to use their nursing skills while doing so . Aside from volunteer opportunities , this chapter has provided social events to increase the morale amongst their students . These events include an ice cream social , pumpkin painting , holiday card making , and study groups . It is exciting to see such a commitment to their community and their students through these challenging times .
