Hello NSNA Members

My name is Andrea and I am thrilled to be serving as the

new Imprint Editor ! Thank you all for electing me into this new role . I am very excited to be leading this magazine , which will tackle several pertinent issues throughout the year . This first issue addresses our shared experience of 2020 .
This year has been a challenge for everyone . Nurses have led the frontline throughout the pandemic , and I wanted the cover of this issue to highlight that . We are all part of this nursing community that has sacrificed so much to provide the best possible care to those suffering from COVID-19 this year — the year of the nurse . Remember , you are not alone . Read on page 36 stories from fellow NSNA members about their own personal pandemic stories . To those who played a small or large role , thank you . Debbie Dellinger talks more about the pandemic in the midst of the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife on page 34 .
The impact of COVID-19 has affected us in more ways than one . Transitioning to online classes , clinicals being canceled , and heading home was a whirlwind of emotions and stress . However , as nursing students , we are resilient . On page 26 , read how school chapter president , Jessica Turner , persevered through the changes and continued to lead her chapter in the right direction . We hope this article inspires you to keep adapting to this new reality with your chapters by embracing the new virtual world and coming up with creative ways to bring members together .
As we handle these changes in our lives , it ’ s important that we remember to practice self-care and focus on our mental health . My personal way of self-care is going for a run and focusing on my breathing while running . Read about other stress relieving tips for nursing students on page 24 . Furthermore , page 42 features some great study tips from fellow student nurses , which can help some of you try some new methods to study during these unprecedented times .
Lastly , as student nurses on the frontlines , I hope you all register to vote for the upcoming presidential election . Our profession and the patients we care for are deeply affected by policy and government . Find out why voting is essential and how you can have your vote be heard by reading , “ Let ’ s Get Out the Vote ” by the Health Policy and Advocacy Committee on page 22 . Remember , the time to register is starting to run short . As students , most of you can register in the state you attend school in . Your vote especially matters if you are in a swing state . You can make a difference !
I hope you enjoy this issue . Please send in your feedback and stay tuned for the rest of the upcoming issues this year . Remember that Imprint is fully digital now so all issues can be found online , making Imprint more accessible than ever ! Also , coming up is the NSNA Virtual 38 th MidYear Conference — the Challenge of Change — on October 29-31 , 2020 . We hope you can join us for this exciting event . Registration is open now . Furthermore , applications for the FNSNA scholarships are now available online . Please take advantage of this opportunity as members . For more information , see page 13 .
See you in the next issue . Remember to vote , take a deep breath , and congratulate yourself on surviving most of 2020 ! We got this !
