Spotlight on Katherine Beasley
The words “ Fight on You Orange
and Blue ” from the Auburn University Fight Song encompasses the values instilled within NSNA . The ability to grow amidst challenge , rise in struggle , and persevere amongst all . Senior Katherine Beasley , a student at Auburn University at Montgomery , Montgomery , AL , and a member of the university ’ s Student Nurses Association ( SNA ) chapter , acknowledges these values throughout her own journey . She transitioned junior year in college , from a medical school track to a nurse focused lifestyle , all while serving those around her . She even coordinated a variety of service projects for her own SNA chapter , while juggling time on the sidelines as a dancer for Auburn University Marching Band . Encompassing the values of NSNA , Beasley simply fights on .
Upon entering her freshman year of college , Katherine had her heart set on entering medical school . “ My mind was made up , but my heart had different plans ,” Beasley states . College chemistry and the different classes were not “ in her scope of practice ,” as she would call it . After the many sleepless nights wondering about her future and what would come next as an eager college student , it would soon be decided .
