to serving those in need. Through her nonprofit ministry, Leak provides food, clothing and hygiene products to local families while partnering with churches, organizations and volunteers to strengthen community support. During the holidays, she organizes meals for families in need and helps provide gifts so parents can experience the joy of giving to their children.
In a surprise announcement, the Citizen of the Year honor was presented not to one individual but to a couple: Ashleigh and David Pitzer. Their philanthropic impact spans multiple community initiatives, including founding the Will Carpenter AYA Cancer Foundation in memory of their son, William“ Will” Carpenter, to support cancer research, awareness and resources for children, adolescents and young adults facing cancer. They also established Pitzer’ s Paws, a business that pairs pet care services with rescue efforts by helping dogs from overcrowded shelters find permanent homes through adoption events and community outreach. In addition, the couple purchased the historic 406, continuing its legacy of being one of Live Oak’ s premier dining destinations and community gathering places.
