chili cook-off. Twelve chilis and nine cornbreads were entered for judging, with the winning cornbread standing out for its sweet touch: a drizzle of honey over the hot bread.
New this year was a corn-grinding machine, giving attendees the chance to purchase a sack of corn and have it ground on-site to their preferred coarseness.
Both festivals serve as fundraisers for the Wellborn Community Association, helping support its year-round efforts to give back to the community. Association Secretary Annita Leonard says neither event would be possible without the many volunteers, businesses and community members who work behind the scenes.
“ We could not do the blueberry festival or the cornbread festival without the volunteers, without the community support that we get,” she said.
The 33rd Annual Blueberry Festival will be held June 5, 2027, while this year’ s Cornbread Festival is scheduled for Nov. 7, 2026.
