A Place Where Every Child Belongs: The Weinstein JCC’ s Commitment to Inclusion

Belonging in Action: Jack’ s Journey Through the Weinstein JCC
Families searching for a place that truly welcomes them often find the journey overwhelming. The Weinstein JCC welcomes them in a way that immediately feels like home.
When Sarah’ s son Jack, who has autism, started at the JCC preschool, the difference was immediate. She described her first encounter with the staff,“ from day one, they saw Jack for who he is and always accepted him and made him feel no different than any other kid.”
Jack has grown at JCC’ s after‐school care, Camp Hilbert, and especially Voices Together, the JCC’ s inclusive summer camp designed specifically for children with disabilities. Surrounded by staff who understand his sensory needs, communication style, and adventurous spirit, Jack has gained confidence from caring staff at the JCC.
Today Jack climbs the high ropes, dives off diving boards, and asks to come back.“ It’ s powerful to hear him say he wants to go to the JCC. He feels comfortable and embraced here.”
Beyond the activities, Sarah says the JCC has shaped her children’ s values.“ Kindness. Respect. Caring for others. It’ s not just care and education,” she explains.“ It’ s teaching them how to be good humans.”
