On behalf of the whole team at Central Asia Institute , I ’ m delighted to share our 2023 Impact Report and the tremendous progress made possible by your generous support . While the political landscapes in Central and South Asia remain daunting , and the geographic and economic contexts present ongoing obstacles , together we have made significant strides in bridging educational disparities and fostering community empowerment .
Noteworthy achievements in the past year include a 35 % increase in the number of students enrolled in CAI schools and classes , of whom 66 % are girls . We trained and resourced 1,135 teachers and awarded scholarships to 147 promising students , making it possible for them to continue their studies and so much more .
Behind these numbers is the life-changing impact you ’ ve made on thousands of individual lives . Your generosity has facilitated transformative stories like that of Kabirova , a participant in our ASPIRE women ’ s entrepreneurship program whose business is now thriving , and Rana , a young Afghan girl who , having lost her parents and the hope of attending school at the age of three , now delights in reading , writing , and art at a CAI-supported community school . As an organization funded primarily by individual donations and family foundations , Central Asia Institute relies on your continued support to make these programs possible .
