“Many of us will never have the opportunity to go, but we can pray fervently to our God to be with the 90,000 alumni in the challenges they face in their own nations.” A CALL TO PRAYER Dr. Beverly Upton “Not only has God the power to give mighty answers to prayer, but He has the disposition to do so. God delights to answer prayers for big things, because He is not only the infinite and almighty God, but He is the loving Father of His children. If the creation of the world proves God’s power, then the giving of His own Son in redeeming love to save lost me proves His willingness to bless!” (John R. Rice from Prayer: Asking and Receiving) Our world needs prayer! Every day the media brings us stories of the chaos in many nations. Indeed, followers of Jesus and the Church itself face persecution across the globe. Our alumni are there! They ask for and cherish your prayers for the multiple challenges they face, as well as share prayers of gratitude with you for the way that God is working in “all things” pertaining to their lives. I just returned from our first Couples’ International Training Session at the Mid-Pacific Center (MPC); prayer is required! Armen shared the agony he feels about his lost father, with whom he continues to share the Gospel. A CEO of a large hospital in India is determined to use every opportunity to evangelize, feeling that he has missed critical moments in the past to present the Gospel. Andrey, a pastor in Russia, struggles with the complacency in the Church and came to the MPC exhausted, but willing to renew his efforts to serve the body of Christ. Many of us will never have the opportunity to go, but we can pray fervently to our God to be with the 90,000 alumni in the challenges they face in their own nations. They work, at the risk of their own wellbeing and often that of their family, to proclaim the Gospel in places where Jesus’ name has not been heard. In his book, John Rice challenges us to pray “BIG PRAYERS TO AN ALMIGHTY GOD.” Thank you for joining us as prayer warriors for the work of Haggai Institute alumni across the globe! 3
