During the school year, more than 2,800 students between the ages of three and 17 fill the halls of Faith Academy in Delhi, India. More than 90 percent of these students are raised in Hindu families. A large portion of them comes from single parent homes, and some have suffered physical abuse. REACHING THE HURT Elizabeth became vice principal at Faith Academy after attending Haggai Institute in 2012. Since then, she’s been busy implementing changes, fostering teamwork, and showing each student and faculty member God’s love. “I am in a place where I know God is using me in reaching people who have been hurt in life,” she says. “Haggai Institute helped me put my life in perspective and take bold steps toward adhering to the Lord’s call in a completely new way.” WHEN GOOD MAY NOT BE GOOD ENOUGH Established in 1964 by five couples seeking to teach children about Jesus Christ, the school started with 12 students and six teachers. Though it had grown substantially over the years and eventually employed more than 130 teachers, there was a lot of room for improvement. When Elizabeth came on board, she told her team, “I have come here to work and take the school to a higher level. That is my vision and my mission for choosing Faith Academy.” She quickly put her words into action. Four months after starting, she landed in the United States with 26 students and two teachers, as part of a NASA educational program. She created a school calendar complete with Bible verses, began a newsletter, introduced graduation ceremonies, and much more. “Haggai Institute helped me put my life in perspective and take bold steps toward adhering to the Lord’s call in a completely new way.” 13
