“ hen leaders discover I have been
W
trained at Haggai Institute and was
later invited to be a faculty member,
my credibility increases and this opens
further doors for training and ministry.”
Clive is an in-demand
communicator, mentor, and
trainer for South Africa’s
business leaders. But fueling
his heart is a motivation far
wider and deeper.
As a teenager, he felt revival
sweep through his high
school, bringing half the
student body to Christ –
including him. He knows the
life-changing impact Christ
makes, and how that impact
ripples out into the fabric of
a city and nation. Today he
desperately wants the people
of South Africa, especially
the young, to experience the
passionate transformation
he himself underwent in his
youth.
“I am the way I am today,”
he explains, “because a
youth leader took the time
to journey with me after I
became a Christ-follower.
This is why I’m passionate
about mentoring.”
This explains his first career
choice – teaching in a high
school.
He says, “I realized I had
a mission field of 1,004
students I could minister
to for the next five years of
their lives.”
But in the end that mission
field became too small.
After 18 years as a teacher
and guidance counselor,
Clive moved into leadership
development. His work with
African Enterprise paired
him with a Haggai Institute
alumnus who encouraged
him to attend training. In
2004, he attended Haggai
Institute at the Mid-Pacific
Center (MPC).
Its effect surprised him.
“As I engaged with faculty
and participants, the Lord
was affirming me. There
was a transformational work
happening, and not just
intellectually and in gaining
skills.
With a passion for teaching and mentoring, Clive also leads a group of men
in a weekly devotion and Bible study. Many are leaders and instructors in
other parts of the community, further expanding the H.I. multiplier effect.
