DIAGRAM D THE FUTURE WHAT CHANGES DURING A SESSION Going forward, we will be looking at actual performance as we ask each alumnus to complete postsession surveys regularly over a five-year period. What about the impact of individual sessions? The diagram below reveals some ways the motivation and capability of leaders advanced during international sessions held between June and October 2012. Participants took the surveys immediately before and after training. The surveys compare the participants’ reported performance in the previous 24 months and their goals and action plans for the next 24 months after training. The transformation is clear. The average number of Gospel presentations increased by 130 percent. The number of leaders trained for evangelism “back home” increased by 480 percent. Money raised for evangelism increased by 74 percent. Leaders leaving the session plan a far greater range of evangelistic activities, and 96 percent of them returned home with a clear plan for evangelism. This plan for evangelism is key to their successes; the survey also revealed that the lack of clear planning was the greatest hindrance to evangelization faced by leaders prior to training. + 130% NUMBER OF GOSPEL PRESENTATIONS + 18% AMOUNT OF MONEY GIVEN FOR EVANGELISM Initial results from the six-month survey show that 60 alumni trained over 2,000 others in evangelism and made over 4,000 Gospel presentations – respectively 14 percent and 22 percent ahead of their own targets on a permonth basis. Paul Penley, Ph.D., designer of Haggai Institute’s alumni surveys, sums up the value of these Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) this way: “It’s the first fruit of H.I. Connect – and there will be much more to follow. Donors need to know which ministries are committed to getting better and tracking outcomes. These surveys will not only help Haggai Institute improve its programs, it will help donors know their donations are making a lasting difference.” + 74% AMOUNT OF MONEY RAISED FOR EVANGELISM Written by Dr. Beverly Y. Upton + 85% CLEAR PLAN FOR EVANGELISM + 103% NUMBER OF EVANGELISTICALLY IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES + 480% NUMBER OF LEADERS TRAINED NOTE: An article about the Measures of Effectiveness process appeared in the Winter 2013 edition of the Christian Leadership Alliance Magazine, Outcomes.
