Georgia Public Safety Memorial Ceremony
With Honor They Served
The bell rang , and tears fell as law enforcement agencies from across the state gathered with friends and family members of loved ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the public . During the Georgia Public Safety Memorial Ceremony , the Georgia Department of Corrections remembered the six staff members who lost their lives in 2020 and 2021 . These officers hold a special place in our hearts as we look back on how they continued to uphold the agency ’ s mission and took pride in their positions .
Governor Brian P . Kemp honored and remembered these heroes , and presented the families with a signed Commendation in recognition of their bravery and public service .
As taps played and the 21-gun salute resonated , the ceremony came to a close . Family members gathered around the memorial wall to view their names etched among the other fallen heroes .
