Bianca Thurman is a Licensed Practical Nurse at Telfair State Prison and is recognized for her life-saving contributions to the agency and the offender population .
While on shift recently , Nurse Thurman responded to an unresponsive offender inside his cell . The offender was attempting to take his own life , but Thurman responded quickly and bravely and was able to save his life . As soon as she arrived on the scene , Thurman began conducting CPR and was able to continue the procedure until paramedics arrived . Her quick thinking and selfless act resulted in a life-saving event .
Nurse Thurman is professional , dedicated , and a prime example of how nurses should conduct themselves . Her ability to respond quickly and act so nobly proves that she is devoted to the best care of others . The Georgia Department of Corrections is fortunate to have a nurse like Nurse Thurman serving the offender population .
