Metro Reentry Food Truck
Through a partnership with Wiregrass Technical College , the Georgia Department of Corrections is able to offer the ServSafe ® Manager Certification course in conjunction with a Food Truck Program . Offenders that successfully pass the exam will receive a ServSafe ® Manager Certification . The ServSafe ® Manager Certification allows offenders to learn sufficient food safety knowledge to protect the public from food borne illness .
Throughout their three-week course , the offenders learned the proper steps of cleaning , usage of equipment , food preparation , cooking temperatures , how to operate a food truck , and much more . At the culmination of the course , 12 offenders received their ServSafe ® Manager Certification through Wiregrass Technical College and are prepared to reenter society with the skills and certifications necessary to run their own food truck .
