On December 10, GDC employees from State Offices South at Tift College partnered with Monroe County Child Abuse Reporting Enforcement  (C.A.R.E.) Cottage to provide gifts for thirty children in need this holiday season.  This is the ninth year that the organizations have partnered to make the holidays brighter for those in need.

“We are honored to partner with the C.A.R.E. Cottage each holiday season,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward.  “I am especially proud of the GDC team for their heartfelt generosity, and for using their time and personal resources to touch the lives of others.”

The C.A.R.E. Cottage is a division of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and is a combination child advocacy center and victim/witness program.  The C.A.R.E. Cottage opened its doors in 1992 and is staffed by a full time Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Investigator, who specializes in child abuse, rape, and domestics abuse cases.  All incidents that deputies investigate with reference to a victim (burglaries, vandalism, theft, etc.) as well as all incidents of child abuse, child molestation, rape, assault, domestic violence and truancy are referred to the C.A.R.E. Cottage for review and assistance.
