Moms In Prayer is an international organization of women who come together to pray for their children and schools. Two years ago, a group of women in the state of Georgia decided to join together as a prayer unit for the female offenders across the state; Moms In Prayer Prison Ministry, a branch of the Moms in Prayer organization. These women visit a Georgia correctional facility every other week to host a prayer group for offenders who are mothers. No matter the circumstances, Moms In Prayer believes the best thing you can do for a child, is to pray for them.

The original program, Moms In Prayer, started many years prior; the Moms In Prayer Prison Ministry started in Georgia just two years ago and consist of 17 volunteers. Two volunteers in the program, Cathy and Kim, visit facilities within the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC). Cathy says the impact of volunteering with the agency has brought nothing but positivity in her life. She looks forward to reuniting with the female offenders on her visits to the facilities, learning about their answered prayer requests, and bringing hope to women who do not have direct contact with their children.

When the ladies of Moms In Prayer Prison Ministry volunteer to visit facilities, their goal is to show the offenders that God has a purpose and a plan, for them and their children. Volunteer, Kim, believes that God has led the group into the facility. She also states that the biggest thing to remember is that a mom is always a mom, no matter the situation. Volunteers, Cathy and Kim, hope more people will begin to volunteer where they feel that God is leading them, because everyone is able to make a difference.

GDC is very grateful for the role that Cathy and Kim play in the lives of female offenders across the state.
