Sergeant
JaNiece Wilson,
Hancock state prison
Sgt. Wilson stays informed on how the Evidence-Based program works, but remains steadfast in her duties as a Correctional Officer. She is eager to support the programs vision, stern, but fair. Sgt. Wilson shines in this position and takes time to listen to population concerns and answer questions. Sgt. Wilson stays engaged with offenders daily and provides positive reinforcement using incentives, where she recognizes offenders and superior performance. She seeks answers for issues, of which she is unaware, relaying information timely and efficiently, contributes in the planning, organizing, and implementation of Evidence-Based family day events. Sgt. Wilson has earned the respect of both staff and offenders, and often goes beyond her expected duties to ensure that tasks are completed, classes, programs, etc. are accomplished, and that evidence based objectives are successful. She often stays late to complete classes and volunteers to work weekends when large events such as ballgames are planned.
Sgt. Wilson is not only a great part of this program but demonstrates the initiative and durability required to be a great leader in this Department. She goes beyond the “Be, Know, and Do” philosophy she learned in Sergeant’s Academy and exhibits an “I am, I understand, I achieve” attitude in her duties.

Officer Myers has earned the trust of both staff and offenders as she is quick to do her part, listening when needed and directing as necessary. She relays information regarding programs and offenders, and works well with the offenders relaying their concerns and providing an ear to listen to their issues. Officer Myers encourages teamwork and helps the offenders to see the possibilities outside their confinement. She has been an asset to establishing Program Family Days while upholding program integrity. She often goes beyond the duties of her badge to ensure Hancock is successful in all endeavors.
