Toastmasters speechcraft graduation

In May 2019, Metro Reentry Facility partnered with Toastmasters International to host Toastmaster Speechcraft to returning citizens.

On June 28, 10 men were presented with program competition certificates in Toastmaster Speechcraft and letters of recommendation by Toastmasters International.

“We are thankful for our partnership with Toastmaster’s International to provide returning citizens an opportunity to build confidence along with enhancing their communication and leadership skills,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “These skills will further enhance their future and assist them with gaining employment to become productive members of society.”

The program requires attendees to attend eight sessions lasting two hours each. The returning citizens are required to present two speeches each week, and according to staff, progress can be seen from week to week. To complete the Toastmasters Speechcraft course, the offenders are required to deliver a three-minute speech on the topic of inspiring others.

Toastmasters International is a non-profit, educational program that provides members with public speaking and leadership skills that create more confident speakers, communicators and leaders.
