were important. When
you talk about news and
you talk about my Dad
watching the news, all of
that made an impression
on me.
My parents allowed me
to decide which high
school I wanted to attend.
I chose Jack Yates High
School-Magnet School of
Communications. It
ended up being my top
choice. It has been 30
years and I haven’t
regretted my decision.
You married Jacquie
Hood-Martin the love of
your life. She is an
ordained minister and
author of several books.

We f i r s t m e t a t
Brookhollow Baptist
Church in Houston
Texas. When we first
met. I did not like her. I
did not care for her. I was
going through a divorce
when I moved back to
Houston, so I wasn’t
looking for a relationship
with her or anyone else.
