Artistic Director, Mr. Anthony White
DYC Singers
Mr White please discuss with our
Impact Detroit readers the vision
for DYC non profit organization.
The Vision for The Detroit Youth
Concert Choir is to teach young
people in the City of Detroit and
surrounding areas the importance
of the performing arts by exposing
them to the art of performing
vocal, dance & acting in front of
audiences throughout the Detroit
community and United States even
on the International stage. Our
mission is to offer the youth of
Detroit a world class performing
art experience that develops their
creative skills and talents.
Our purpose is to create a venue
where youth learn the techniques
of vocal and stage performance.
Instruct students on methods of
multi-tasking, time management,
and critical social skills required
for life. We provide young people
with a safe and productive
alternative to street violence and
potential gang activity.
It really sounds like a postive
program you’re running how long
have you been working with teens
and why? I’ve been working with
young people for going on 15
years in various areas in the
performing arts, but I’ve been with
the Detroit Youth Choir since
Artistic Director, Stephen Shepherd
2001. I do it because I love the
children.
