A Letter from the Development Co-Chairs

The Spring of 2020 posed unprecedented challenges for schools around the world , with campus closures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the switch to virtual learning .
Despite the challenges faced last school year , many of our community members continued to show their support , enabling us to raise funds to cover our Scholarships & Financial Aid Programme and to make pivotal upgrades to our Lower School campus .
Traditionally , the Annual Gala Dinner & Auction has raised the majority of the donations for our Annual Fund . Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , this time-honoured event was unfortunately cancelled , but we truly thank those corporate partners and individuals who offered to continue their support despite the event not going ahead .
Last November , it was great to see so many community members participating in the Annual Fun Run that recorded the highest participation rate in our history and exceeded our fundraising goal . We were delighted that 65 % of staff gave to the Annual Fund with over 40 LCIS staff members contributing to the tuition fees for a student displaced by Hurricane Dorian .
The Annual Fund directly supports every student ’ s learning in and out of the classroom . As we move further into the new school year , we hope now more than ever that you will consider lending your support . Our current success is founded on over 60 years of generous support from our donors .
This year , an important objective of the Annual Fund campaign is to support capital improvement projects on the Lower School campus . This will include completing the refurbishment of the Lower School library ( Media Centre ). We will also invest in new band instruments and sports facilities on the new Upper School campus . Additionally , our Scholarship Programme needs to be well funded to allow our scholarship students to continue their studies through to graduation .
A donation to the Annual Fund is an investment in the value of an International Baccalaureate ( IB ) education and a demonstration of your belief in the mission of LCIS . We hope you will consider continuing the tradition of generous support with a contribution this year .
