Forward Momentum Builds
This is an exciting year for LCIS as we begin site preparation for our new upper school campus. The design and construction
of these new facilities are a crucial component of our strategic and master plans which set the standard of excellence for
schools within the Caribbean. New space, renovations, additional students and a more robust endowment for financial aid and
scholarships will open limitless possibilities for our students and the greater Bahamian community.
Thanks to the generous partnership of local businesses, foundations, families and community members, we have raised over
$13.5M through donations and pledges. This has allowed us to continue implementing our master plan on both the current
campus and prepare for the new secondary facility behind St Paul’s. Additional financing is concurrently being finalised to
allow for the Phase One construction on the secondary school site consisting of a two-story, three-wing classroom building.
Our students’ learning will be enhanced by a brand new chemistry/biology lab, physics/robotics lab and makerspace, art studio,
dance and theater rehearsal space, eight general classrooms, dining facility, conference room and the necessary offices for
administration. These facilities will accommodate five grades of secondary students and support the full complement of the
LCIS student experience including strong academics, athletics and the arts.
Construction drawings for the entire secondary campus, including Phase One and future phases, were completed over the
summer months, as well as the cut and fill process, which has prepared the site for development. With a building permit in
hand, the installation of infrastructure and the process to select the contractor underway, we will soon be able to announce our
timeline for groundbreaking and Phase One construction.
In addition, LCIS now enjoys enhancements to our current campus. Following on from four years of improvements to buildings,
landscape and play areas for all students, the school recently completed the construction of Dingman Hall, the largest single
investment in the master plan to date. The hall and adjacent kitchen have had a significant positive impact on campus life for all
faculty and students. In addition, recent improvements have begun to ensure a safe and secure campus that meets the highest
international standards with upgrades being made to the exterior fire alarms, lighting and camera systems, as well as perimeter
fencing.
Two new gifts totaling $350,000 were also received for our Financial Aid and Scholarship Endowment. These generous donations
give this important programme further sustainability and predictability as we grow our support for exceptional local students
who would otherwise not be able to attend LCIS.
In alignment with our strategic vision, the Board and leadership remain committed to providing an excellent education for our
students. As always, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our entire school community for partnering in this effort.
Thank you for helping to launch the next chapter in LCIS history.
This donor listing is cumulative for
the full period of the campaign
and recognises any commitments
made before the close of the last
fiscal year on 31 July 2018.
