The definitions
Lymph nodes: Small, bean-shaped structures that produce and store cells that fight infection and disease.
Spleen: The largest lymphatic organ in the body contains white blood cells that fight infection or disease.
Bone Marrow: The yellow tissue in the center the bones produces white blood cells.
Thymus: This small organ is where T-cells mature.
Tonsils: A main function of tonsils is to trap germs (bacteria and viruses) which you may breathe in.
Adenoids: Like tonsils, adenoids help to defend the body from infection. They trap bacteria and viruses which you breathe in through your nose.
Lymphatic vessels: the capillaries, collecting vessels, and trunks that collect lymph from the tissues and carry it to the blood stream.
Appendix: The function of the appendix seems related to the massive amount of bacteria populating the human digestive system
Peyer's patches: are round or ovoid bundles of lymphatic tissue made up of unencapsulated lymphatic cells that protect the mucous membranes of the small intestines (the ileum) from infection.
