National Geographic www. nationalgeographic. com / animals On the right hand page you will find a box headed Animals A-Z. Scroll down until you find the animal you want. This reference site provides beautiful pictures of the animal you are looking for. There are quick facts and a short description of the animal, where it lives and its behaviour. Don’ t forget to click on the little arrow“ Expand for more” to see everything on the site. On the second page you will find more pictures and links to other sites.
Kids Planet www. kidsplanet. org Click on“ Get the facts” on the home page. The next page gives you a list of the endangered species by geography. Click on the species you want. This site provides you a fact sheet of all the essential data on your chosen animal – status, description, size, population, lifespan, range, habitat, food behaviour, off-spring, threats, protection. For some species that are legally protected you will be directed to the Defenders of Wildlife page. This site is good for checking up on threatened or endangered species.
Buzzle. com www. buzzle. com When you are at the home page you will find a list of categories on the left side. Click on animals and pets and you will find an index of categories on the left side of the page, list of articles on pets and animals in the centre and a list of topics over on the right. There is so much about so many things about animals and pets on this site you could be here for hours. This site does not have many pictures but have interesting facts and stories.
Animal Planet www. animal. discovery. com / animals This will bring you to the index page where you will find a list of categories of animals, birds, insects, reptiles, fish and amphibians. Each category is accompanied by a picture and notes on the category. For instance, if you click on mammals you are led to a list of animals. Just click on what you are looking for. This site provides you with beautiful pictures of your chosen animal and brief notes.
Wikipedia http:// en. wikipedia. org / wiki / animals On this page you will find a search box on the left hand side. Type in the animal you are studying and hit go. Wikipedia provides lots of information on your chosen subject and many good pictures. It takes a long time to work your way through the information. If you are doing a project on animals, this is the place to go. But beware sometimes you may find the word [ edit ] appearing. This means that the information may not yet be complete.
