If you love a color but you think you cannot wear it, try several different shades. A good way to do this is to try on scarves in different shades of the same color. Maybe you CAN wear purple. If a color always makes you feel beautiful and you always get compliments when you wear it, do not worry about what the experts say, pro or con. Just wear it! You are never too old to wear beautiful colors. As we age, our skin tone softens so remember to soften your color palette. For example, try going from purple to lavender. My mother-in-law is nearly 80 and she always looks beautiful in soft, deep pastels. Color will make you stand out in a crowd or recede into the background; it is your choice. It does not matter if you are a perfect size 5 or a voluptuous 26. It does not matter if you are 18 or a youthful 85; use color to show the world what a fascinating person you are and use it to make yourself feel beautiful. Why go around feeling drab when you can shine?
