to prepare me for the tumor to
be cancerous, because all
signs pointed that way. Two
days later she called me to
confirm that it was breast cancer. It had also spread to the
lymph nodes under my arm.
Two weeks later, I delivered
a perfectly healthy, beautiful
daughter, Angelina Jean. I was
doubly blessed to have her and
a wonderfully supportive and
loving husband.
Two weeks after that I started chemotherapy. I had Triple
Negative Breast Cancer, which
tends to be more aggressive,
but the plus is that aggressive
cancers are more likely to respond well to chemo. After two
treatments the tumor, which at
the start of treatment had
grown to about the size of a
golf ball, had shrunk by approximately 70%. The Radiologist, Dr. Fruge, was so excited
he called me into his office to
show me himself.
Yes, the chemo also
caused me to lose my hair, but
I had been expecting that. My
husband shaved my head for
me and I think he was more
upset than I was. By that point
I just wanted it all off, rather
than falling out in clumps. In
fact, until all the hair was gone,
it drove me so crazy I tried to
vacuum it
