women up there are called
“Riggers” and their time is
spent walking, and working on
trusses that are about 24” wide,
not much room when you are
that high. The next time you go
to a concert look up, and you
will see them up there usually
running spotlights during the
show. While the lights are go-
ing up, the audio department is
getting all of the sound equipment set up, electricians are
wiring it all, the stage is being
built, and the backline is setting
up drum kits, guitars, amps,
and any other instruments that
are going to be used that night.
After hours of backbreaking
work, the stagehands get a
break for lunch, some will leave
