AFRICA CONNECT T he origin of the African Diaspora has always been a delicate topic. As a collective it’s hard to decide whether the scattering of African natives is so embedded in robbery; that it can never be seen as a positive thing for modern culture. In the past it was the slave trade that saw our descendents dispersed into foreign lands. This, a lot of the times, is hard for people to swallow. It means acknowledging that a large part of their blood lines were slaves – tortured and bought as if cattle. And for those who remained behind, admitting our continent has a vacancy of greatness, renders us powerless. However, times have changed and now many Africans leave the motherland for greater opportunities. This is why diaspora is not a cycle that has simply stopped and, in my opinion, nor should it!
