Herman Mashaba, Chairman of the Foundation’s
board explains, “The Field Band Foundation is
not just an arts or life skills programme. It goes far
beyond that – it uses the arts as a catalyst to equip
the country’s youth to be responsible, empowered
and confident citizens.”
THE POINT IS
TO H E I G H T E N
SELF ESTEEM,
ENLIGHTENING
T H O S E I N V O LV E D. . .
Essentially, the FBF was created in order help the
underprivileged. At the moment, the foundation
has been teaching lifestyle skills to over 2,500 kids
in depraved areas.
Added to the music side of the FBF, kids are able
to receive general education in social development
along with specific lifeskills training such as a
greater understanding of issues affecting their
community such as HIV/AIDS among other things.
Along with all this, the foundation is associated
with scholarship programs in Norway and the
United States. The goal being a means of providing
the kids with a chance to see the world, gain new
perspectives and return with a wealth of knowledge.
Overall, the point is to heighten self-esteem,
enlightening those involved by teaching the
application of oneself towards a goal, to instill
competitiveness, teamwork and discipline. It
provides confidence through the power of purpose
through music.
The harmony is an audible and visual experience,
creating a glimpse of hope and improved living.
It’s beautiful, it’s expressive - it’s the Field Band
Foundation, marching towards a future where lives
are changed.
