1- It's a pleasure to be here today with you Mr. Lynch. We are from a Brazilian magazine about the world of imagination, and, of course, we couldn't fail to interview you, a great surrealist director. Can you tell us about how did you get interested by the art world?

DL: First of all, I appreciate your compliments; it's always good to be interviewed by people of all around the world. Since I was a kid, I had a dream be a painter. I spent all my childhood traveling to small towns in USA and I believe that this experience contributed to my artistic formation filling my mind with some ideas, dreams... I always was a dreamer. Then, later, I started my studies in an Art Academy but I quitted to travel by Europe looking for inspiration. When I came back the normal life bothered me. I felt like I was obligated to find an ordinary job as a salesman, a mechanic, and that's not for me, you know? So I started this time a course at Pennsylvania Fine Arts Academy and was there where I have found myself.

2- What you attribute the big success of your first feature, Eraserhead?

DL: After I get graduated in Pennsylvania Fine Arts Academy, I started with some short films - and I admit that I love to produce this kind of movies till today - and I believe that this helped me to be confident with myself and to get experience with the cinema.

3- In your opinion, which of your movies is your favorite movie?

DL: All of them! (laughing) The Elephant Man was the movie most critically acclaimed and it was very good to me. I was wasonly 34 and a movie with eight nominations for the Oscars was really a big deal. Since this moment the name "David Lynch" started to appear in the most of reputed cinema magazines and the critics recognize my work as a masterpiece. I can't deny my especial love for Blue Velvet not only because this movie helped me to get up after Dune, that was a failure, but it was a great project with a amazing cast, I love to work with Kyle MacLachlan and from this movie I got inspired to create my TV serie, Twin Peaks.
