I am honored to be included on the IMAGE Newsletter. As we gear towards another year of continuing to strengthen our focus on employee engagement without the Gallup survey. I want to discuss the caveat of employee engagement, recognition. Recognition, which plays a vital role in employee engagement, not always monetary but rewarding just the same. The pat on the back, the public thank you or shout out for going above and beyond.
It is a fact; employees want to feel valued and appreciated. According to Michael Rose, a survey conducted during the month of April by Globoforce’s Workforce, finding out of 708 full-time employees “94% of employees like to be recognized for their work, 59% said recognition significantly affects their productivity, 49% said it affects relationships and 43% said it impacts on their customer service (O'Donovan, 2013).”
We all would like a little extra money, Starbucks Coffee Card or in my case, a great pair of shoes or handbag. Nevertheless, a simple ‘thank you for all your hard work today’ or ‘I am so glad you are here you have made a tremendous difference’ makes me smile just the same.
I look forward to listening, supporting and working for you. It is my goal to be point of resource, support and guidance as an HR professional.
