This allows rapid prototyping of the plant design – rather than a few design reviews during the whole FEED process , Worley together with the teams at CiDRA and Carrapateena are reviewing the design on a weekly basis with fast iterations and direct inputs from the customer in areas like maintenance , access , site placement , plant orientation and logistics . to fit with our rapid commercialisation timeline , we now have a dedicating team on Carapateena and our two other advanced green and brownfield projects in copper where we have the maximum corporate and site engagement plus medium to large tonnage and high value . That said we are also actively involved in some longer-term greenfield studies as well as other brownfield projects that could be classed as small tonnage high value .”
Mark Holdsworth , VP Application Development at CiDRA Minerals Processing says engaging mine sites to define the value proposition , refine the application space , and quantify the sustainable benefits has been a journey : " To really leverage the technology you need to assess the overall strategic direction of the mining asset along with the site constraints . The P29 technology can be leveraged to increase plant throughput and / or reduce primary grind size . Therefore , close engagement with the mine site is key to finding the best solution .”
Rothman adds : “ We could go into an operation that is presently throughput limited for instance . The grind circuit rougher could be used to reclaim grind capacity which could them be used to return the primary grind size back to the design point thereby increasing the flotation recovery and overall net metal production .”
Holdsworth continues : “ the grind circuit rougher processes a very coarse grind size while protecting the grind size going to the rougher flotation which is not necessarily the case with other technologies .”
In the end , the ultimate potential of P29 in a greenfield operation is a no-grind , no flotation flowsheet where dry grinding technology to a coarse size of between 1 to 3 mm replaces the traditional grind circuit and the P29 technology replaces the traditional rougher flotation process .”
