Introducing the new WARMAN ® MCR ²® mill circuit pump Engineered for
demanding mill circuit duties
Mineral processing operations are under increasing pressure to process more tonnes through increasingly demanding mill circuits. More complex ores, higher throughput requirements and tougher operating conditions place greater stress on critical pumping assets. Variability in wear, maintenance requirements and asset condition can make operating campaigns harder to plan, increasing uncertainty around production, maintenance and total cost of ownership.
To address these challenges, Weir has introduced the WARMAN ® MCR ² ® mill circuit pump. Built on decades of WARMAN hydraulic expertise and insights from the world’ s largest installed base of mill circuit pumps, the pump combines advanced wear management, simplified maintenance and integrated NEXT condition and performance monitoring.
Designed for severe-duty mill circuit applications, the WARMAN MCR ² mill circuit pump is intended to provide greater certainty of operation, production and operating costs by reducing wear variability, supporting planned maintenance and monitoring asset condition. The design combines hydraulic, mechanical and digital technologies to address the wear, maintenance and operating challenges commonly encountered in mill circuit duties.
The WARMAN MCR ² mill circuit pump incorporates eight patented technologies across hydraulics, wear management, serviceability and condition monitoring. Development work focused on the areas of the pump that have the greatest influence on wear life, hydraulic performance and rebuild requirements.
Critical wear components incorporate increased wear material allowance to maximise component utilisation before replacement and reduce the frequency of major rebuilds. Maintenance-focused design changes simplify access during maintenance and can reduce the labour and time required during major service events. Together, these design changes are intended to extend service intervals while reducing disruption during planned shutdowns.
The pump retains the footprint of existing WARMAN mill circuit pumps, supporting higher throughput requirements without major changes to installed infrastructure. For brownfield operations, this can simplify upgrade projects by allowing continued use of existing foundations and plant layouts.
Longer wear life, fewer maintenance interruptions, faster and safer servicing, and continued use of existing infrastructure can contribute to lower total cost of ownership across the life of the asset.
Integrated condition and performance monitoring
NEXT condition and performance monitoring is integrated into the pump and continuously records critical asset health and operating parameters. Monitored parameters include lubrication condition, mechanical faults, bearing health, impeller tip speed, process conditions, impeller condition and total dynamic head.
Continuous condition, process and hydraulic data help detect changes in pump and process behaviour earlier, supporting performance tracking across the service interval and helping teams address issues before they develop into more significant maintenance or performance problems.
Field validation
The WARMAN MCR ² mill circuit pump has been tested in high-wear mill circuit applications across three continents. Field trials were conducted in demanding operating environments where wear performance, maintenance requirements
and production continuity have a direct impact on operating costs.
Experience from these installations reinforced the pump’ s role in supporting longer service intervals and more consistent operation between maintenance events.
Integrated design and operating outcomes
By addressing wear management, rebuild requirements and condition monitoring as part of an integrated design, the WARMAN MCR ² mill circuit pump supports longer service intervals, planned maintenance and improved control of total cost of ownership. For operations processing increasingly challenging ore bodies and pursuing higher throughput requirements, these changes provide greater certainty of operation, production and operating costs.
