GKD Mining grows screening media footprint
Fast growing mineral processing equipment company GKD Mining told IM that its North American expansion also extends to screening, with GKD increasing the supply of its South African-manufactured screening media into the US market. With production capability of approximately 14,000 screening panels per month, GKD says it has significant capacity to support North American and global mining customers.
James Chaponnel General Manager – Mining Division at GKD told IM:“ Our screening media product range is constantly being expanded and ranges from heavy duty compression moulded rubber panels for crushing circuits, to non-blinding, high openarea fine aperture polyurethane panels for dewatering and DMS applications. Our rubber and polyurethane compounds are specifically engineered to suit various applications where high wear, high heat, antibacterial properties or softer compounds are a prerequisite.”
He added:“ We also offer a wide range of woven-mesh-inpolyurethane panels where we combine our 100 years of weaving experience with our injection moulding expertise. The result is a high open-area fine aperture panel with pore sizes that are more consistent and more accurate than what is available in injection moulded panels.”
Sandvik- predictability defines performance in gold processing
Sandvik has developed a new range of screens to help mineral processing operations achieve predictable, repeatable screening performance while reducing engineering complexity and operational risk. Dubbed the Compact Screens range, this new offering is making its debut on the world stage.
As ore grades decline and processing demands increase, operations are under pressure to maximise productivity while improving eco-efficiency. Maintaining process efficiency has therefore become a priority across the industry. While throughput remains important, its value ultimately depends on how consistently it can be sustained over time. In many processing applications, screening plays a much greater role than simply separating material by size.
Maintaining stability across increasingly complex processing circuits has become critical to achieving reliable plant performance. Stable classification helps material move through the plant as intended, supporting downstream recovery, reducing unnecessary energy consumption and helping operators maintain greater control across the wider process. When screening performance becomes inconsistent, the impacts can quickly extend well beyond a single piece of equipment.
In gold processing circuits, even small variations in screening performance can have significant downstream consequences.
Material can be misclassified, recovery can be affected, and operating costs can increase through unnecessary reprocessing and grinding. Screen media issues such as pegging or blinding can further reduce efficiency by preventing correctly sized material from passing through the deck, diverting valuable material away from its intended path through the circuit.
To address these challenges, Sandvik has developed the Compact Screens range using standardised, engineered designs built around defined load envelopes and proven configurations. Rather than relying on project-specific engineering, each model is designed to deliver predictable performance within clearly defined operating conditions, providing processing plant operators with
