lines , it extends panel life , increases open area , and reduces pegging and blinding .”
Reliability and sustainability are critical to success in mining – but achieving these goals is possible with a proactive approach to maintenance , which can be challenging with heavy-duty equipment like vibrating screens .
The FLS Screen Motion Analyser V2 ( SMAv2 ) it says gives you an insight into the condition of your screen , enabling you to reduce downtime and costs by carrying out the right maintenance at the right time . The SMAv2 can be utilised safely in a variety of environments without impacting production and provides easy to interpret data in real time via Bluetooth connectivity . Mines can optimise performance and efficiency with a data-led maintenance strategy .
It allows users to understand the condition of their screen in real-time ; minimise the likelihood of unplanned and costly breakdowns ; promotes predictive maintenance practices ; and creates an operational data library . No specialist training is required and it can be used safely without impacting production .
SMAv2 records simultaneously in three directions , to calculate operating frequency and stroke . This data is aggregated into an easy-tointerpret ‘ 3D ’ screen motion report . Users can collect or gather high level analysis of multiple screens within a very short timeframe , wherever you are .
Users can also perform analysis at regular intervals and / or after maintenance and modifications to the screen . If a problem is identified , the data can be downloaded to an external source for more detailed analysis – and to the nearest FLS machine analyst for an expert opinion .
Multotec ’ s media might
Bheka Majola , Managing Director – South African Operations at Multotec emphasised that at Electra Mining Africa , its goal was not only to exhibit products but also to demonstrate its comprehensive solutions as part of a larger international group . Majola highlighted Multotec ’ s dedication to the South African local manufacturing sector through an investment of ZAR100 million in a new screening media factory . “ This investment will help us better serve our growing customer base and update our manufacturing processes to ensure we remain a viable and competitive supplier of high-quality products to the world ,” he remarked . This major progress highlights Multotec ’ s commitment , to supporting local industries while also meeting the increasing demands of the global market .
“ Our research and development facilities test full production size equipment to provide customers with solutions that do not need to be scaled up from testing to supply . Our people spend time at the customers daily , ensuring that our innovations are driven by customer needs , directly benefitting their operations ,” Majola elaborates .
From wedge wire sieve bends and centrifuge baskets to completely optimised composite screen decks , Multotec is well recognised as a leading screening media technology solutions provider for the global minerals processing industry .
It supplies products covering the full range of screening applications , including sizing , dewatering , scalping and desliming . Refined over 50 years ’ experience in mineral screening applications , Multotec manufactures one of the world ’ s largest ranges of rubber , polyurethane , wedge wire , steel and composite screening media .
Customers it says can achieve their exact size and output specifications at the lowest cost per ton , with solutions ideal for coarse , heavy-duty or ultra-fine mineral applications . “ Our panel
offerings include solid feed-end panels , slope change panels , slotted aperture panels for high velocity zones , and square aperture panels for low velocity zones .“
Modular panel designs ( 1 ’ x 1 ’ or 2 ’ x 1 ’) optimise wear-related maintenance to cut operating costs on screen decks by up to 30 %, with single or double deck configurations as your application requires . Users can systematically manage and analyse the data from their deck maps and accurately plan for maintenance with Hawkeye™ condition monitoring software .
In late 2023 , Multotec revealed that it had developed a range of flame-resistant rubber screen panels that self-extinguish in under 60 seconds , thereby significantly reducing the risk of fire and the associated loss of valuable production time , plant and staff safety hazards . Multotec had responded to a challenge facing iron ore producers in Australia by developing a rubber screen media solution that negates the risk of fires associated with hot work on screen decks .
Shawn Faba , Product Manager : Screening Media at Multotec , explains that while the solution was developed to meet the stringent performance and safety requirements of the Australian mining industry , other mining operations across the world would also benefit from its adoption . Multotec ’ s flame-resistant panels have been scientifically developed in collaboration with international academic institutions and raw material suppliers . The product has been tested under controlled laboratory conditions , certified accreditation trials , as well as on a number of sites in real world conditions .
