BATTERY AND ELECTRIC MACHINES
The L440B, the latest in Aramine’ s line of BEVs, is a more efficient, more powerful and more intuitive machine than the diesel equivalent, according to the company
Marc Melkonian, Co-President – Equipment Division, told IM at bauma 2025 that the company was looking to develop new BEVs, as well as expand its manufacturing facilities in France.
Becker driving electric transport
Poland-based Becker-Warkop has been developing safe battery solutions for powering and driving transport systems used in mining and tunneling for more than 10 years.

Now on its fourth-generation battery system, based on what it believes to be the industry’ s safest LFP battery chemistry, it can reflect on a number of battery-electric underground locomotive deployments in the mining sector.
The company explains:“ Current generations of high-capacity batteries enable the transport of materials and people over long distances, where we are increasingly talking about the transport of heavy materials, which until recently were inaccessible to battery systems due to the limited capacity of the batteries. Thanks to high efficiency, many mining operations have managed to eliminate the use of dieselpowered transport, which in the confined underground environment generates large amounts of exhaust fumes and significantly increases noise levels.”
Environmentally friendly and safe batterypowered locomotives and monorails help to transform mining towards electrified and optimised operations, it says, explaining that it has analysed in detail the costs associated with the operation of diesel and battery monorails.
The assessment considered these factors on an annual basis( in Poland): consumption of diesel fuel and electricity, replacement of filters and other spare parts, replacement of oils and other consumables, Becker-Warkop explained, saying that the annual operating cost of battery-powered monorails was a huge seven times lower than the incumbent technology.
“ Of course, improving the battery packs alone would not be enough if it were not followed by the development of drive units, the machine control system and battery management software,” the company says.“ The comprehensive approach, along with proprietary Becker-Warkop solutions, allows for full control and optimisation of parameters in both the development and testing phases, which directly affects the operational safety not only of the battery pack itself, but also of the complete devices.” The latest example of this approach is the new electric drive for monorail systems, which offers both greater pulling force and greater transport capacity for the entire system, all while being more cost-effective, according to the company.
