Italy ' s IPCC provider
For this month ' s IPCC edition , Italian company BEDESCHI told IM about its global footprint and leadership in raw material handling , including in-pit crushing and conveying solutions
BEDESCHI is an Italian company with a global footprint , and leadership in raw material handling , container logistics , and the delivery of turnkey plants to produce bricks and tiles . Established by Guglielmo Bedeschi in 1908 as a brick manufacturing firm , BEDESCHI expanded into the cement industry in the 1950s , leveraging its expertise in brick production .
Since then , it has consolidated into one of the top players in the market , acquiring know-how and expertise in different fields . Today , it says it is the only company able to supply all types of bulk material handling systems and serve various industries , from bricks and cement to mining , grains and oilseeds , fertilisers and chemicals , deep sea mining , steel and power . Furthermore , it supplies machines for alternative fuels like biomass and waste .
The headquarters is located in Italy close to Venice , in Limena , Padua . This is where the main workshop is located ; other offices are in Bergamo and Genoa in Italy , London , Perth in Australia ( also the location of the second workshop ), St Ingbert and Essen in Germany , Miami in the US , Hong Kong , India , and Dubai . The company employs more than 350 people , which includes more than 250 engineers . In 2023 , with the opening of the new offices in Germany and Australia , BEDESCHI consolidated its competencies and leadership position in materials handling even further .
The company says it works on a turnkey and tailor-made basis to meet customers ’ demands and comply with all required standards . Reza Poorvash , Global Chief Sales & Transformation Officer told IM : “ We are experienced in handling any raw materials and additives and provides the design , engineering , and manufacturing of integrated solutions covering every company ' s needs from quarry extraction to storage , including crushing units , apron feeders , stackers and reclaimers , combined bucket wheels , ship loaders , and belt and pipe conveyors . We also have outstanding experience in complete bulk handling solutions , from sketching first ideas for equipment and systems to fully fletched service , including spare part solutions , field services , and revamps .”
In mining , the company says it also stands also at the forefront of innovation in IPCC systems . Poorvash : “ Our offerings prioritise reliability , energy efficiency , and resource conservation while minimising lead times and reducing installation and operating costs . BEDESCHI offers various stationary , semimobile , and mobile crushing units that excel in multiple applications . One of the main cited benefits of its sizers and double-roll-crushers is superior energy efficiency . Due to a developed unique crushing technology , they consume less power compared to other machines designed for similar applications , making them a cost-effective choice for operations aiming to optimise energy usage . Poorvash adds : “ Moreover , the design of BEDESCHI ’ s crushers prioritises controlled operation , which is evident in the comparatively slow peripheral speed of the rollers . This deliberate design choice minimises the risk of excessive impact , enhancing the equipment ' s durability and reliability . Another key advantage lies in the efficient handling of fines . Unlike some alternatives , our crushers prevent fines from requiring additional power consumption by ensuring they pass through the crusher without unnecessary re-crushing , optimising energy utilisation .”
Furthermore , compactness is an additional key benefit of these type of crushers . This compact design offers significant space-saving benefits , making them particularly suitable for applications where space is at a premium . to crush mined blasted limestone blocks inside the extraction tunnels in the mountain . The semimobile units are skid-mounted and towable with wheel loaders .” Inside this plant , the units supplied are used both in the open quarry area and in the extraction tunnels into the mountain galleries , where the stones are sized before their deliveries with the belt conveyors .
Poorvash adds : “ In addition to their compactness , BEDESCHI ' s crushers excel in versatility . They are adept at processing a wide range of materials , including sticky , wet , or frozen substances that often pose challenges for traditional crushing equipment . This versatility ensures optimal performance across diverse operating conditions , enhancing overall operational efficiency . A clear example is the mobile crushing unit supplied to a client operating in Finland who needed to handle wet and frozen material . Everybody knows that raw materials are natural products . Each project is a new experience and a fascinating challenge and requires specific solutions , primarily when we treat moist materials in hot and cold countries . The conditions can be even worse in frigid countries , where very wet raw materials freeze , thereby causing further handling problems . When treating moist sticky materials , attention has to be paid to the design of these machines , with particular regard to size , shape , lining , and construction features .”
Maintenance is usually a crucial aspect of any industrial equipment , and BEDESCHI crushers are engineered with this in mind . They feature a maintenance-friendly design , facilitating ease of upkeep and minimising downtime , contributing to enhanced productivity and operational continuity . BEDESCHI crushers are embedded in rock-solid steel structural buildings accommodating the crusher so that it ' s easy to maintain features that are not jeopardised but taken care of . Truck ramps are customised to the trucks the customer wants to use to approach the hopper , which are flowoptimised by utilising DEM simulation .
This is all within the scope of the company delivery , as well as the hopper with the apron feeder . Apron feeders are tailored , building on its standard apron feeder product range , where BEDESCHI also has an offering portfolio . Poorvash : “ Our structural expert team will design the crusher building so that the operators are less affected by vibrations arising from the operation and have the best visibility of the crushing process itself . Underneath the crusher , a hopper arrangement serves the best possible material flow to the downstream conveyor while protecting the belt of the conveyor system in the best possible manner .”
